QEI Exec Project Management Software
Do you have to manage very large projects?
Or multiple projects? Then take a look at QEI Exec
When your project management has to handle huge volumes of data ...
then you need a software solution that is strong at issues like:
- tracing of logic between activities
- the need to sort and summarise data in different ways
- overall system performance
- automation of repetitive processes.
QEI Exec project management software makes extensive use of its unique CAD-based graphics to represent information in innovative ways that other systems simply cannot provide.
QEI Exec Project Management Software makes
large projects transparent and controllable.

Take advantage of ...
... a powerful database combined with a CAD-like Drawing Approach
The project management software QEI Exec provides you with a very powerful database that you can use to easily manage even large projects and multi-projects. Project data can be entered into QEI Exec or imported from other applications.
You can edit project data both in a spreadsheet-like or graphical (barchart, network, structure) mode. The graphical mode is not simply predefined by the software but a CAD-like approach allows to display data as you need them.
This approach gives you the user total control over the appearance of your data. See this example ...
Benefits ... Benefits ...Benefits ...
The following is a brief summary of all the project management benefits you can get from using QEI Exec Project Management Software.
General Benefits of QEI Exec Project Management Software
- Include all your data: QEI Exec handles an unlimited number of activities, relations and resources
- Flexible Scheduling: down to 1 minute intervals
- Easily create and edit data: in both traditional tabular or unique CAD-style environments
- Critical Path Management: CPM scheduler with configuration options
The graphic below shows a sample barchart in QEI Exec. Please, visit our Online-Tour to learn more about the details shown in this barchart.
Structure Support of QEI Exec Project Management Software
- Primary project structure: all data is created within primary project structure (eg WBS = Work Breakdown Structure)
- Numerous analysis options: data can be analysed via any number of alternate summary structures (eg OBS = Organisation Breakdown Structure, PBS = Product Breakdown Structure)
- Instant recalculation of roll-up as data changes
- Structure depth: structures can be of any depth
- Flexibility: no enforced coding schemes
The graphic below shows a sample work breakdown structure in QEI Exec. Traffic lights visualise the state of the structure element. Please, visit our Online-Tour to learn more about the details shown in this work breakdown structure.
Earned Value Functions of QEI Exec Project Management Software
- Complete data history: baselined data may not be deleted. The process saves copies of all current key data (dates, rate decks, work patterns etc)
- Rebaselining / Unbaselining: projects can be rebaselined or unbaselined if required
- Rate conversions: earned value parameters can be computed with or without rate conversions applied
- Actual costs: can be recorded independently of actual quantities
- Actual costs: may be applied at any level in the activity breakdown structure
- Performance monitoring: consolidation controlled by basis (eg all resources, single resource) and date - allows monitoring of past and anticipated performance in detail
- Key parameters: are computed dynamically for every element of every structure based on the current consolidation
- "Traffic light" information: Chart data may be coloured based on cost or schedule performance to give "traffic light" information
Project management without earned value analysis is not serious. The graphic below shows a sample graphic of earned value analysis in QEI Exec. Please, visit our Online-Tour to learn more about the details shown in this earned value graphic.
Corporate Environment in QEI Exec Project Management Software
The following objects may be defined as standards and shared between projects:
- Calendars and work patterns
- Chart templates
- Resources, resource groups and alternate resource groups
- Rate decks
- Activity data layouts and styles
- Symbols, logos and borders
- Page frames
In addition, the entire user interface is written in the AMPS macro language and can be modified to include corporate terminology, procedures or custom functionality.
Interfacing in QEI Exec Project Management Software
- Transfer activity, logic, resource and calendar data
- Graphics data can be imported from HP-GL or DXF files
- Fully customisable file structures allow data exchange with databases, report writers and spreadsheets in ASCII, CSV, MPX or dBase format.
- Interfaces to Microsoft Project, Primavera and many other project management, manufacturing and maintenance systems
- DDE client and server functions
- ODBC client functions via AMPS language
Hardcopy Output in QEI Exec Project Management Software
- All output of charts and tables may be previewed
- Scale to fit, or chop into pages
- No restrictions on paper size
- Combine multiple charts onto one sheet
- Use standard frames to surround chart data
Web Publishing with QEI Exec Project Management Software
- Charts and tables can be published to an Intranet or the Internet
- User definable templates and style sheets allow development of a corporate "look and feel"
- Individual folders and charts can be tagged to prevent their contents from being published
Time Chainage Charts in QEI Exec Project Management Software
Commonly used on linear construction projects such as roads, pipelines and tunnels, time chainage charts (Download for further information: Time Chainage brochure) display activities against both time and distance.
The principal benefit is the management of work in confined spaces where typically only one operation can be performed at a time. PCF originally developed this extension to QEI Exec for TransManche Link, the group set up to construct the Channel Tunnel.
Time Chainage Charts in linear projects significantly increases the quality of your project management. The graphic below shows a sample time chainage chart in QEI Exec. Please, visit our Online-Tour to learn more about the details shown in this time chainage chart.
Boxcharts in QEI Exec Project Management Software
The traditional barchart (Gantt chart) displays one bar per line in the vertical direction. Although some packages (including QEI Exec!) can display multiple bars per line, even this format does not always provide a suitable means of displaying information in situations where one wishes to group tasks or activities together.
Boxcharts are extension to QEI Exec that were originally co-developed by PCF and British Aerospace to display work assignments for engineering staff during aircraft manufacture. In a typical boxchart the horizontal axis displays a timescale much like a normal barchart, whereas the vertical axis groups tasks by the resources assigned to them. This means that a single task may appear more than once on the boxchart if it has multiple resources assigned to it. The height of each box also indicates the amount of the resource being assigned.
Boxcharts add a dimension to the barchart. This way it enhances the information given in the chart. The graphic below shows a sample boxchart in QEI Exec. Please, visit our Online-Tour to learn more about the details shown in this boxchart.
