Time Chainage Charts Software

LinearPlus - interactive Time Chainage Charts for linear Projects

London, UK - May 2003 - NOWECO, the distributor of management software provides with LinearPlus a software solution that can be used as add-on to other project management applications to create time chainage charts.

LinearPlus is designed to enable planners to create and modify Time Chainage Charts either directly in the LinearPlus System or by importing data from a project that has been set up in a separate Project Management system. The chainage points are the fundamental part of defining physically where an activity takes place thus if the basic project data is held external to LinearPlus then the Chainage data associated with each activity must also be passed to LinearPlus, or added directly in LinearPlus in order for LinearPlus to be able to create the Views.

The Time Chainage Chart (also known as the Time Distance Chart) is a simple extension of the ubiquitous Bar Chart (Gantt Chart) familiar to all users of planning systems.

This format provides basic information about the relative timing of activities, but gives no indication of where they take place, or any possible conflicts that might exist. This is a potentially serious problem for those working on projects involving restricted (usually linear) work sites, such as
- roads
- railways
- tunnels
- pipelines
- transmission lines.

To resolve these problems Time Chainage Charts use the Y-axis of the Bar Chart format to reflect the physical location of an activity. This is a simple concept providing key additional location-related information required by management and planners to tackle the complexities of linear projects.

The benefits of LinearPlus is a significantly reduced time to produce chainage diagrams compared to manual or spreadsheet based methods. A Wizard driven data import and layout allows rapid production of chainage diagrams from plans held in Microsoft Project, Primavera Project Planner and many other tools. Fully interactive diagrams permit live "what-if" modelling using chainage data.

LinearPlus requires Windows NT SP3 or higher, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Windows95/98/ME are not supported.

LinearPlus, a development by PCF Ltd., UK, is sold as single license at a price of EUR 2,950.
