Case Study: National Power
Funded by $1.6bn from the World Bank, the Hub River power station will be Pakistan's largest generating unit when completed.
The international consulting arm of National Power (one of the UK's major power generators) is prime contractor for this project, and responsible for managing subcontractors in over half a dozen countries, each using their own local currency.
In an unusual application of the cost control functions, National Power are using QEI Exec to perform graphical treasury management. Key aspects of the system include:
- Multi currency support
- Support for fluctuating currency rates
- Predicts demand on each currency
- Earned Value techniques used to monitor contractor performance
- Complete project monitored and reported back to World Bank in US$
